MarcusVale.

Marcus Vale builds records the way he builds collages — slowly, by layering small things until they refuse to be ignored. His visual work uses scraps from twenty years of studio sessions: tape labels, master sheets, fragments of lyric drafts that never made the album.

In their words

“Every record is a collage. I just finally started cutting up the paper instead of the audio.”

Biography

Marcus Vale builds records the way he builds collages — slowly, by layering small things until they refuse to be ignored. His visual work uses scraps from twenty years of studio sessions: tape labels, master sheets, fragments of lyric drafts that never made the album.

The five works he is contributing to Drop 001 were made over a single winter in a converted laundromat in Highland Park. They are quiet, dense, and deeply personal.
