Lila Voss writes songs about quiet rooms and paints the rooms they leave behind. Her visual practice began on the back of set lists — small ink studies passed between band members on tour. Six years and three records later, the practice has become its own discipline.

Her work for Drop 001 is built on raw linen pulled from the touring case. Each canvas carries the marks of a season on the road: salt, ash, hotel pen ink. The crimson, she says, came from a single bad night in Marfa.
